Optical Communications

LusoSpace has been working in optical communications since 2008. Besides a laser head for space optical communications between s/c and ground stations that has been developed in cooperation with Thales Alenia Space, other optical communications equipments are being developed.

Currently, a prototype for a low-profile optical head to be used in an aerodynamic laser optical communication terminal for installation on commercial aircraft is being developed. This terminal will communicate with satellites and will allow the aircraft’s passengers to browse through the internet and even make a video call.
